Breakfast Boost Loaf

Posted by Gill Bland Tuesday, 5th January 2016

I’m sure you’ll see plenty of green smoothies, salads and other healthy recipes doing the rounds this January but the fact remains that it’s still pretty wet and dark out there and we need some comforting stodge in our lives. This will definitely fulfil that brief.

Leftover turkey? Here’s how to use it up...

Posted by James McIntosh Monday, 21st December 2015

Turkey sandwiches, turkey casserole, turkey curry, perhaps even turkey risotto, turkey stew… It can go on for days.  But it need not be a chore.

Planning leftovers, especially with too much turkey can be a pest.  From experience, ordering a full turkey of about 200g per person is plenty (including carcass weight).

5 Step Plan to cooking for a party

Posted by James McIntosh Wednesday, 18th November 2015

Four chickens cooked in one oven at a time. That’s right, Four. Or 4 lasagnes’ or 4 cottage pies or even 4 quiches. And I don’t mean small ones. That’s just one of the features of selected Rangemaster range cookers.

With Christmas coming up and family occasions to cook for, most of us host a big meal at least once.  It can be stressful planning not only what to cook, but also to ensure it’s all cooked perfectly when served.  Ovens can cook more than one thing at once, but do be careful of putting items straight from the fridge into the oven as it will lower the temperature. Rangemaster ovens will come back to temperature quickly though.

Edible Sparklers for Bonfire Night

Posted by Gill Bland Tuesday, 3rd November 2015

You don’t need worry about wearing gloves to eat these sparklers and you don’t need a bucket of water to put them in. However, I’m sure dipping them in a mug of hot chocolate wouldn’t hurt. If you’re short of time this ideas works perfectly well using bought breadsticks in a packet (the grissini type). The biscuit base here will make for a sweeter treat though.

Bye bye Beige. The sun is out; it’s time for a picnic

Posted by James McIntosh Thursday, 11th June 2015

Spring always gives me hope, seeing the flowers and leaves in their full glory. Spring days may be cold, but spring mornings to me are like waking up from a great night’s sleep. Summer is the icing on the cake; it’s like a party of life for me.

1 Pot Beery Beef Cobbler

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 13th October 2014

With the launch of the new 60 cm Rangemaster I thought I would bring you a recipe that is perfect for the more compact kitchen. The tools for this dish are minimal (perfect when storage is at a premium) and yet you can easily feed a hungry crowd on it. All you need is 1 chopping board, 1 knife, 1 small bowl and 1 pot. Ideally the pot should be a cast iron casserole dish, which I would suggest is an essential item in any kitchen.

Baking with children. Make your own lunch.

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 22nd September 2014

This month I thought I’d bring you a recipe that’s great for getting the children in your life enjoying the kitchen as much as you do.

Whether you’ve got children of your own and have just re-started the daily packed lunch production line, or are just temporarily taking the role of small-person supervisor and want an easy activity that has the added bonus of resulting lunch, this recipe is ideal. You’ll have the benefit of knowing exactly what your darling one is eating and they can get all nice and messy mixing and kneading the bread with their hands. You could even add spices, nuts, dried fruit, or other ingredients to jazz it up. I once had a lovely cinnamon spiced soda bread with dates and walnuts in it. I suspect that version would be more popular with the more mature section of the family though, especially if accompanied with some good cheese and wine!

Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 7th July 2014

Mr B and I went on our summer holiday last week. Three days in Lisbon and a couple inland near the Spanish border. I can thoroughly recommend it for sunshine, great scenery, lovely people, good food and a slower pace.  If are planning on going to Portugal, do get in touch through www.talesofpiglingbland.com and I’ll write you a list...

Eat Well, Waste Less

Posted by Alexandra Dibble Tuesday, 17th June 2014

Did you know in the UK we pay for but do not eat a whopping £10.2 billion of food a year? (This works out at costing the average UK family almost £60 a month!)

To raise awareness of the growing issue of food waste and how we can help the environment, we have created a handy infographic to help you start changing your household for the better and save money. You’ll find out how much food is wasted daily in the UK and how much that wasted food costs you.

The graphic also gives you some top tips on how to reduce your waste including recycling, storing food properly and learning what the ‘best before’ dates really mean. You’ll be surprised how much food is actually wasted and how much you can save by just understanding dates and storage instructions properly.

Take a look at our Eat Well Waste Less infographic below to make a real difference to your kitchen, your wallet and the environment.
