Veggie Shepherd's Pie with Magic Mash
Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 15th May 2017
This week is National Vegetarian Week. Whilst their aim is to get you eating veggie for a whole week, this recipe is aimed more at the idea of foregoing meat for just one day a week. There are many arguments in support of one meat-free day a week which cite its environmental benefits and these are no small reason why it’s worth considering but I’m no scientist so I’ll leave you to form your own opinions there. However, I would suggest that an initiative like “0 Comments ” is worth a look for a much more mercenary reason - it can be really cheap to cook a vegetarian meal. Some sweet potatoes, a few carrots, some celery, mushrooms, onion, a can of beans and tomatoes will usually amount to less than half the cost of one pack of beef mince but can feed the same amount of people. Think of it less as missing out on meat and more as an easy way to boost your vegetable intake and try out different recipes.

Spring Salmon Tray Bake

Roast lamb is the Easter family meal of choice and it’s true, there are few things that can beat a great roast lamb dish. But with spring, perhaps even summer trying to show its face and with Easter holidays perhaps making things a bit more rushed I thought it would be nice to bring you something lighter, less time consuming and more informal. Something that you can prep in minutes, throw in the oven and then pop on the table for everyone to dig in.0 Comments
Hints and tips on how to clean your Rangemaster
Posted by Alexandra Dibble Monday, 10th April 2017
With spring upon us, it’s time to start about spring cleaning your oven ready for all the BBQ (I know I’m being a little optimistic here) and Easter visitors. Cleaning my oven is not one of my favourite jobs I have to say, however with most range cookers being the focal point of the kitchen, spending that little bit of time, properly cleaning your Rangemaster will really prove worthwhile, and completely make your kitchen sparkle. As well as being more hygienic, better for your healthy and prevent the smell of burnt and smoke of burnt on fatty food and grease.0 Comments
Easy Batch-Bake Biscuits
Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 20th March 2017
The Rangemaster tall side oven is a wonderful thing - the slight variation in heat from top to bottom is a boon, allowing you to crisp up the roasties at the top while the apple crumble bubbles away below. It’s great for cooking an entire meal but it really comes into its own when you want to batch cook things. Trays full of roasted vegetables, jacket potatoes to feed an army, lasagnes and all sorts of good, wholesome food can be racked up to eat now or to freeze and store later. Yes, all sorts of good, wholesome food…. or cookies. You can whip up an awful lot of cookies in a very short space of time with the tall oven. Even better, you can pre make the dough in all sorts of different flavours and have it stored in the freezer so that you can bring out mounds of freshly baked biscuits in the time it takes for the oven to heat + 10minutes.

Chocolate Tart with Meringue Kisses
Posted by Gill Bland Monday, 13th February 2017
Ah valentine’s day, an excuse for all things chocolate, pink and heart shaped. This month I’m making the most of the multifunction oven to make a chocolate tart. The base is wholemeal which gives it a great al-dente chew to it and ensure that it is not too sweet, which in turn sets off the rich chocolate centre and sugary meringues.
